Busy Night!

So this is what it's going to be like in Labor & Delivery. This was my view, and this was my arm! My very first IV and let me tell you, it was NOOO picnic. So let me tell you a little bit on why I was there...
Starting at 2 am I started having bad cramps. They would come in waves ranging from a dull ache to cringing over in pain! I waited to call my OB office at 8:30 am (right when they opened) I told them how I was feeeling and that the pain was so bad it also caused nausea. Long story short they told me to come in so they can test my urine. hmm.. okay i guess.
I get there at 11:30 and while waiting for them to re-do my lab paperwork (somehow they lost my order) I ask the nurse if there was any way to check out baby. Her reply, and i quote, "now why would we do that?"... huh... what? did she seriously just say that? I wanted to cry and punch her in the face at the same time. My reply, let me quote myself, "I'm sorry, but this is my first time and I have NO idea what pain is normal and what is not, but seeing how I've been cramping since 2 am and haven't felt baby move since 4am, I would like that peace of mind." She said fine, after my labs to come back and she would listen to her heartbeat. After labs I went back to the office for her to listen in and SHE WENT TO LUNCH! I had to sneek away from work, i couldn't wait another hour for her to eat! So.. I went back to work
Fast forward to 7:30 pm.
I had been cramping all day but finally when I went to lie down and rest.. WORST PAIN EVER! (well.. i haven't been through child birth yet) I decided right there that I was going to L&D to get checked out, this wasn't normal. I zoomed past Mike and off I went. When I got there, all the nurses were SUPER GREAT! They listened to what I had to say and immediately took me back. She then tried to find her heartbeat.. no success. For 10 minutes she tried, meanwhile I started to cry. She went for an ultrasound and walah! There she was, all snuggled in my belly sucking her thumb. She was perfect. The nurse ran blood, swabs, and urine tests. Long story short, I was dehydrated (my electolytes were off), and I have some kind of bacteria infection. Great! I just got done with strep throat and now this. After filling me up with liquids and giving me some meds I was sent home with my souvenier cup, an answer, and knowing my baby is A-OK! whew.. told you it was a busy night!!
